The National President of Samajwadi Party, Akhilesh Yadav, has cautioned voters about the Bahujan Samaj Party's internal ties with the Bharatiya Janata Party. He urged people to be careful when considering BSP candidates in the upcoming elections. Mr. Yadav emphasized that the Samajwadi Party is committed to following the ideologies of Babasaheb Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar and Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia and taking everyone along.
During a press conference held after a roadshow in support of Mayor candidate Noor Hasan Malik in Saharanpur, Mr. Yadav accused the BJP of spreading hatred and creating divisions between Hindus and Muslims. He also accused the BJP government of stopping the development works initiated during the Samajwadi Party's tenure in the cities. Mr. Yadav further criticized the BJP government's failure to provide public facilities and services in the smart cities and cited corruption and loot in the name of smart city projects.
According to Mr. Yadav, the urban local body elections are focused on cleanliness and the provision of basic public facilities. However, he alleged that instead of addressing these issues, the Chief Minister of the state was only talking about guns. Mr. Yadav expressed his disappointment with the lack of focus on issues such as cleanliness, traffic management, unemployment, and inflation, and lamented the decline in law and order in the state.
