The Naubasta police station area in Kanpur was rocked by a sensational theft at Bank of Baroda, where jewelry worth ₹1.8 crore was stolen from a locker. However, in a major breakthrough, the police have arrested the accused responsible for the theft and have also recovered the stolen jewelry.
The accused, whose identity has not been revealed yet, was arrested after a sustained investigation by the police. Acting on a tip-off, the police conducted a raid and apprehended the accused, who confessed to the crime and led the police to the location where he had hidden the stolen jewelry.
The recovered jewelry includes gold and diamond ornaments, which are estimated to be worth ₹1.8 crore. The police have also recovered other incriminating evidence, which is being examined for further investigation.
Speaking to the media, a senior police official expressed satisfaction over the swift action taken by the police and congratulated the team involved in the investigation.
